NEW YORK: Adam Lambert admits he got carried away with his sexually charged American Music Awards performance, but he''s offering no apology.
The glam rocker from American Idol said on The Early Show that his performance would not have caused as much controversy if he weren''t openly gay. He also said there were other "adult" moments on the show that caused no outrage.
"I admit I did get carried away, but I don''t see anything wrong with it," he said Wednesday. "I do see how people got offended and that was not my intention. My intention was to interpret the lyrics of my song and have a good time with it."
Lambert kissed a male keyboard player, dragged a female dancer around by the ankles and had a dancer simulate oral sex on him while performing "For Your Entertainment," a song with a sexual edge. ABC received many complaints about the performance and that network''s morning show, Good Morning America, canceled Lambert''s scheduled appearance on Wednesday because it said it couldn''t trust what he would do.
The Early Show on CBS, perennially third in a threeـnetwork morning show race, happily gave him a platform and milked it ـ interviewing him, having him interact with fans and asking him to sing. One of the show''s hosts, Harry Smith, tied the flap to rock history, noting that camera operators were only allowed to shoot Elvis Presley from the waist up during a network TV appearance generations ago.
Lambert admitted he didn''t rehearse some of the more risque elements of his award show performance ـ a point that particularly upset ABC, which said it was taken by surprise by what he did. In the future, he said he''d try to get these issues cleared before the show.
But he noted that Lady Gaga smashed whiskey bottles during her performance, Eminem rapped about rape and Janet Jackson briefly groped a male dancer.
"Janet Jackson, crotch grab," he said. "I haven''t heard one peep about that."
He said that "if it had been a female pop performer doing (his) moves that were on the stage, I don''t think there would be nearly as much of an outrage."
"I think it''s because I''m a gay male," he added.
Offered a chance to apologize, he declined. He said he didn''t consider that there may have been children watching because his American Music Awards performance came at nearly 11 p.m., and that it''s a parent''s job to monitor what their children are watching on TV.
"I''m not a baby sitter," he said. "I''m a performer."
Asked what he''d do differently if he had the chance, Lambert said, "I would sing it a little bit better."
"I guess I have a tendency to divide people," he added. "Apples and oranges ـ you either like it or you don''t."
"For Your Entertainment" is the title cut and first single from Lambert''s new album, which went on sale Monday. He didn''t perform that on The Early Show, opting instead for the songs "Whataya Want From Me" and "Music Again."
He said before performing, "Parents, this is appropriate, I promise."
Lambert took questions from fans surrounding CBS'' midtown Manhattan studio, including one who said she had traveled from Japan to see him. None of the questions were about Sunday''s performance.
His mother, Leila Lambert, came on stage between his two songs, and was asked what she thought of her son at the American Music Awards.
"I was a little taken aback," she said. "But, you know, I just went with the flow. It''s all good."ـAP

"LIFE" as a word means alot to me.However i cant explain it in words!
I was in my room ,laying in bed and listening to happy music like Jason Mraz and owl city.When my mom entered my rom without a further notice and started babbling.
"whoa,mom slow down,whats wrong?" i cut her off
"listen cady,if i gave you the choice of living a second life,would you go for it?,would you take the chance?" she asked me while staring carefully at my face.
"Um honestly mom,i dont know!,i think i may take it since i love taking risks anyway"
"ok,now that i know your answer,im gonna spill it out"
"Mom what is it,whats going on?" i started to be impatient
"we're going to have to move to another state"
my eyes nearly popped out of its place.
it was a shock!.What was wrong with this place? i like living in here.As the matter of fact i love this state.Who would not love living in Utah?.
"uhhhhh" i couldn't get my words straight
"well..." i can see that my mom was waiting for my responce
"i cant believe im saying this,but ok lets do it." i said
"but wait, you didnt tell me where are we moving to?" i continued
"i think you might be surprised." she replyed with a small excited smile on her face
"California" she quickley continued
there was a moment of silence surrounding the room
"why?" i asked with a bit of ironic questioning tone in my voice
"i just got fired from my job,and thank god i did because i wanted some motive to get me out of that company,and i thought what a better place to start a new life than cali?" she explained it well enough for me to accept it.
"ok what about maddie?,did you tell her?" maddie is my 14 year old sister and frankly i never thought about what maddie would think about things because she lives in her own world.Honestly each one of us,me,mom,and maddie live in our her own world.But this was moving so i had to know what she thought.
"tell me what?" maddie interrupted and walked in to my room
"honey,we're moving to california" mom answered with a bit of 2 emotions:concerned&excited.
"awesome" was just maddie's reply!
"now since everyone knows about it ,lets start packing,we're leaving on tuesday morning,that leaves us with 3 days to pack our things up"
"what?,mom 3 days?,why the rush?" i was panicked because i dont like rushing!
"honey,why not in 3 days?,it better to leave now than to be hung up on this place" mom said
i had nothing to say so i just smiled.Sometimes smiling can be the answer.
*3 days later*
"knock,knock" mom was knocking on my door."Wake up cady its time to leave t"
"okay im awake, ill get dressed in 2 minutes" i shouted
"i'll be downstairs with maddie"she shouted while going downstairs.
"okay" i replyed shouting
i came downstairs and the van was parking right infront of our door waiting for us.Well actually for me because everything was already in the van,including mom and maddie,except me.
when i stepped outside,a skater boy passed me by so fast that i fell on my back.The skater boy came back real quick but this time on his feet.
"Are you alright?" he asked
he gave me a had and picked me up
"i am so sorry ,i didnt realize i was so fast until you fell" he continued after picking me up
"its ok" i answered while looking down at myslef searching for a bruise or something but i couldnt find anything and that was good,i guess.
i looked up to see his face.His eyes immediatly locked on mine.He was charming.He had black short hair,his eyes were hazel but almost golden.His smile was breath-taking.
"hi,im Ryan" he introduced himself with a bright smile that i couldnt get enough of even though it was minutes since i met him.
"nice to meet you,im .....uhhh..im.." what was wrong with me?,i forgot my own name?,or was it lost in my head?
"i can see that i've done a damage to your head with my speed,sorry again" he said
"Ha,no my name is cady" i had to put on a smile when knowing that i had to meet this great guy at a time like this.The time of moving away.
"nice to meet you too then,cady" his smile just keeps getting brighter and brighter
he continued "well it was not a nice way to meet,was it?"
"uhm well not really,but it was nice anyway"i replyed with a smile knowing that it was so nice to meet him in this way than not meet him at all.
"well ,ryan,i have to go now,my mom and my sister are waiting for me" i told him
"oh ok,sorry for keeping you late,i guess i'll see you later?" he replyed with his charming smile
"i dont think so,its not what you think ,but we're moving to california now"i told him and thinking deep inside that at this moment i dont want to leave now.
"oh,too bad,we could've hung out" he said with a small frown in his face
"yea,sorry,i guess this was just bad timing"
"maybe,should i give you a call" this was just a way to get my number.And i was happy to give it to him.
"i dont know,its up to you,but that'd be nice"
"ok,i will,but how am i going to call if i dont even have your number?" he was smiling again
"oh right,sorry haha,her you are" i said while writing my number on his palm.
"cool,i guess i'll talk to you later then" he winked at me and i was so happy
"yea sure" i shouted at him while i was getting in the van.
we both waved at each other for seconds.
"ooh,a new guy" maddie finally spoke
"shut up" i replyed and hit her with my pillow that was in the van.
hours passed by .
We finally arrived in Orange County,CA.
we all got out of the car
"here's our new home" mom said
the house was not too big but not too small also.and it was cool;4 bedrooms,3 bathrooms,living room...and so on.
right when i stepped inside the house ,my cellphone rang.
it was Ryan
"just to make sure you arrived safely" that was so sweet of him.
"yes thank you,i did"
goosebumps started to attack me.
"sorry again about what happened" he started apologizing again
"i told you its ok ,in fact i didnt get hurt at all" i started to explain a bit
"it was just a fall" i told him
"oh ok,that good,well not the fall,the fact that ur not hurt" he said
now i dont blaim the goosebumps for attacking me
"i get it ryan,thanks alot really for asking,and it was nice of you to call and check up on me,but i gotta go now unpack and when im done i'll text you" i was n a rush to unpack and get this moving thing over with.
